“The Love Garden” is the first book I’ve read from this talented author David Blackburn, but I hope it’s not the last! The way this book was written is different from many I’ve read before, but it totally hooked me right from the beginning and kept my attention throughout. It was intelligent, weird, sad, dark, funny, deep, tragic… I thought the storyline and the character development to be very well done and thought out. I feel like this level of complexity could have easily ended up badly, but instead I darn near gobbled the whole book down in just a few evenings. There were some pretty shocking events that may upset some readers but I thought the author handled the sensitive subject matter well. This book will haunt me for a long time, but in a good way. Brenda MaxwellWell “The Love Garden” took me a while to read, but in the end I’d say it was worth it! I like how everything came together, and I enjoyed reading this unusual book! I think David Blackburn writes very well… very descriptive and strong and we feel like we are there almost like watching a David Lynch movie or something. There were some slow parts where I thought there was too much dialogue and conversation that did little to advance the forward progression of the plot, and at times was a bit too ‘telling’ when I would have preferred more action. But it all came together in the end in a shocking way. Overall an interesting, if not surreal novel that pushes the boundaries of typical literature. (4 stars) Carla Biggins
Carla Biggins“The Love Garden” by David Blackburn starts off with some considerable backstory to set up the scene and ground the reader in Carly’s world and perspective, which the author David Blackburn does a wonderfully convincing job of creating as believable background for the plot to unfold. This book does touch on some pretty heavy subject matters and there should be trigger warnings for the abuse and shocking events. A powerful, mind-bending read that kept me captivated. Liked the characters and the ending was satisfactory. (4-5 stars) Jenna Brewster
Jenna BrewsterThe Story begins disturbingly with the abuse of a child from the father and the mother. The child Carly tells her mother of the abuse and she does not believe her. Carly can’t wait to embark out on her own and exact revenge.
Men are drawn to Carly as she has grown up to become very beautiful and is intelligent. She starts her own life but brings her anger and scars of the past with her. She seems fated to never finding love or a solid relationship.
Jeff and Carly meet and sexual tension builds. Jeff is successful, smart and a womanizer. Carly acts very mysterious and odd with hard to explain behavior He reunites with his long lost brother Tim, and does not want to introduce him to Carly just yet.
The book is very suspenseful, with high tensions and strong emotions right up to the very end.
The cover is erotic and fluid.

KBAmazing…Amazing…Amazing. I love where it took me through and through…
I couldn’t put it down. I just finished this quality written, titillating, and engaging book with an end you would never ever expect. A satisfying end to be sure. I could not imagine where the book was going to lead me, and was a little concerned as the book was coming to an end (I didn’t want the story to stop so soon!)…but I was not disappointed. The story was well produced, the ending brought it all together, and I could rest in peace with that amazing turn of events.
I didn’t know what to expect in a book called “The Love Garden,” with such a provocative front cover photo. The actual point of the book makes it all come clear. A must read. This is a story about a very troubled woman, who finds a disturbing way to relieve her pent up internal torment after years of sexual abuse and other trauma.
The tension built to an all time climax in this story several times, bringing lots of good tingly stuff along the way (way better than 50 Shades if you ask me). The amazing ending has a twist that will bring everything home for the reader. The book was so well written it felt like I was watching a movie as I read. In fact, I’d like to see this story in a movie!
I like this book because it builds the characters so well, it is believable, it is tingly, and the ending blew me away with glee! More than satisfactory read, this new book may be a best seller. Well done!
